Abstract
Basic life support in cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest patients must be carried out immediately to reduce mortality from cardiac arrest. Adequate knowledge and skills are needed to perform basic life support quickly and accurately. The purpose of this community service is to improve the knowledge and skills of school cadres on basic life support steps using the Structured Supportive Education Method. The activity involved 38 student members of the Youth Red Cross with details of 12 students as cadres and 26 students as prospective school health cadres. Trained school cadres are expected to be able to continue providing basic life support to the entire PMR population. The community service instrument used a questionnaire sheet. The results of the cadre knowledge analysis before the intervention (50%), in the sufficient category with a mean of 48.6. After the intervention, the cadre's knowledge was obtained (58%), in the good category with a mean of 59.8. The results of the analysis of participants' knowledge before the intervention (50%), in the less category with a mean of 43.1. After the intervention, the participants' knowledge (45%), had good and sufficient categories with a mean of 69.0. This means that cadres and PMR members have increased scores before and after the intervention of providing basic life support. It is recommended that basic life support training be socialized to all school members so that insights and skills related to basic life support can be increased to be implemented quickly and reliably.
